This is not a rule of thumb that websites worked out. It is printed in DBATU's First Rules and Regulations (July 2016), in the clause on Award of Class for B.Tech programmes:
Percentage of Marks = (CGPA − 0.5) × 10
The same clause carries a worked table, and the calculator above reproduces every row of it exactly:
| CGPA | Equivalent percentage (as printed) |
|---|---|
| 6.00 | 55.0 |
| 6.25 | 57.5 |
| 6.50 | 60 |
| 7.25 | 67.5 |
| 7.75 | 72.5 |
| 8.25 | 77.5 |

DBATU CGPA to percentage table
Every quarter-point from 5.00 to 10.00, worked out with the official formula. Notice that the percentage is always five points less than CGPA × 10 — which is why a perfect 10 converts to 95%, not 100%.

| 5.00 | 45.0% | 7.75 | 72.5% |

And a fact most students miss: clause 13(a) of the same rules says the final degree certificate will not mention any class at all — your CGPA appears on the semester grade reports. So when a form asks for your class, it is worked out from your CGPA under the table above, not copied from the certificate.
CGPA or SGPA — which one to convert
Your SGPA covers one semester. Your CGPA is the running average of every semester so far, and it is the number the rules convert. Putting a single SGPA through the same formula gives a fair estimate for that semester, but DBATU defines the conversion for CGPA, so use CGPA whenever a form asks for your degree percentage.
Still studying? Use your latest CGPA and say which semester it runs to — "CGPA 8.10 till Semester 6" is precise and recruiters read it that way.
How to write it on your resume
Lead with the CGPA and put the percentage in brackets. Many Indian recruiters and application forms compare percentages, and the bracket saves them the arithmetic without hiding the official figure.

What is the official DBATU CGPA to percentage formula?
Percentage of Marks = (CGPA − 0.5) × 10. It is written in the Award of Class clause of DBATU's First Rules and Regulations (July 2016) for B.Tech programmes, and repeated in the university's December 2021 amendment for B.Arch.
Why does a CGPA of 10 convert to only 95%?
The formula subtracts 0.5 before multiplying by 10, so every CGPA converts to exactly five points less than CGPA × 10. A perfect 10 therefore becomes 95%.
What DBATU CGPA do I need for 60%?
6.50 — which is also the First Class cut-off. You need 7.50 for 70% and 8.00 for 75%.
Is DBATU the same as Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University?
No. DBATU is the technological university at Lonere, Raigad. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is a separate university with its own rules, which this page does not cover.
Does the DBATU degree certificate mention First Class?
No. Clause 13(a) of the same rules says the final degree certificate will not mention any class; CGPA is given in the semester grade reports. If a form asks for your class, it is worked out from your CGPA under the Award of Class clause.
Does the same formula apply to DBATU Diploma, Pharmacy or M.Tech?
We have verified it in the published B.Tech rules and the B.Arch amendment only. Grade cards we have seen print the same formula for other programmes and a different one for Diploma, but we have not found those in a published DBATU rulebook — so check the reverse of your own grade card before relying on this for anything other than B.Tech or B.Arch.
