Your Name
Electrical engineer with 5 years in industrial project execution. Designed and commissioned LT and HT distribution up to 33kV for plant loads of 4 MW, and cut energy consumption at one facility by 11% through a power factor and lighting retrofit.
AutoCAD Electrical · ETAP · Load Calculation · Switchgear Design · Panel Commissioning · SCADA · PLC · Energy Audit · IS & IEC Standards
- Designed and commissioned LT and HT distribution up to 33kV for an industrial plant load of 4 MW
- Reduced facility energy consumption by 11% through a power factor correction and LED retrofit project
- Prepared single-line diagrams, load calculations and cable schedules for 3 greenfield projects
- Commissioned 12 MCC and PCC panels with full protection relay coordination and testing

Use this format freeWhat recruiters look for in a electrical engineer resume
- State the load levels and voltages you have handled — LT, HT, 11kV, 33kV, plant load in MW. This places your seniority faster than years of experience do.
- Declare your track: design, plant maintenance or project execution. A design engineer who applies for a maintenance post without reframing is filtered out immediately.
- Name the standards you work to, such as IS or IEC. Design roles in particular screen for standards familiarity.
- List software precisely — AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, DIALux, EPLAN. Generic "AutoCAD" misses the electrical-specific term.
- Include commissioning and testing experience separately from design. Being able to energise a panel safely is valued independently of being able to draw it.
ATS keywords for electrical engineer roles
Applicant tracking systems match your resume against the job description before a person ever opens it. These are the terms that show up most often in electrical engineer postings — use the ones that are genuinely true of you, in your own bullet points rather than in a keyword dump.
Common questions
What separates a strong electrical engineer resume?
Specific load and voltage levels, the standards you design to, and whether you have commissioned what you designed. Most electrical resumes list software and responsibilities but never say whether the candidate has worked at 415V or 33kV, which is the first thing a hiring manager wants to know.
Which software matters most for electrical engineering roles?
AutoCAD Electrical for drawings, ETAP for system studies and load flow, and DIALux for lighting design. For automation-leaning roles, PLC and SCADA platforms by name matter more than any of these. List only what you can be tested on.
How should a fresher electrical engineer write a resume?
Lead with your degree, then treat your final-year project and any plant internship as the experience section — the system studied, calculations performed, software used and the outcome. Substation or plant training, even as an observer, should be described concretely with the voltage levels involved.
