ITI Wireman Resume Format — With a Full Sample

Wireman work is installation work, and installation hiring is licence-aware in a way that plant maintenance hiring is not. A contractor reading your resume wants to know what you are permitted to wire, what you have wired, and whether you leave a job that will pass inspection. This format puts licence, scope and workmanship in front of everything else.

The line most ITI Wireman resumes get wrong

Write NCVT or SCVT next to the trade, and put any state wireman or electrical supervisor licence on its own line with the issuing state and the category. For contracting work this is frequently an eligibility condition rather than a bonus, and it is the single most common reason one ITI candidate is called ahead of another.

What employers look for on ITI Wireman resumes

Common questions

What is the difference between the Wireman and Electrician ITI trades?

Wireman is centred on electrical installation - wiring, conduit, distribution boards, earthing and service connections. Electrician covers a broader scope including maintenance of machines, motors and control circuits. Employers hire against the work in front of them, so list what you have actually wired or maintained rather than relying on the trade title.

Do I need a wireman licence, and where does it go on the resume?

For many contracting and installation roles it is a legal requirement rather than a preference. If you hold one, put it on its own line near the top with the issuing state and category, not buried in the education section, because it is often the first filter applied.

How do I write experience if I have only worked with a local contractor?

Write it fully - the building types, the wiring you ran, whether you did DB and panel work, and whether you handled earthing and testing. Local contracting experience is genuinely relevant, and describing it in two vague lines is what makes it look like less than it was.

Should I list safety training on a wireman resume?

Yes. Lock-out tag-out, work at height and first aid are gating requirements on many commercial and industrial sites, and a candidate without them can be rejected regardless of skill. If you have the training, name it plainly.
