Resume formats for India's largest employers
The format barely changes between these companies — single column, one page, plain text. What changes is which evidence their screening weighs, and that is what each page below is about.
What is the same everywhere
Every large Indian employer screens entry-level applications at volume, and that imposes the same constraints regardless of which logo is at the top of the advertisement.
- One page for freshers. A second page is rarely read at intake volume and is usually treated as padding.
- Single column, standard headings. Education, Skills, Projects, Experience — not creative alternatives.
- No photo, no date of birth, no father's name. Those belong on a bio-data, which is a different document for different employers.
- Figures exactly as your marksheet shows them. They are verified against documents before joining.
- Projects described, not listed. Purpose, stack, your contribution, result. This is the only part of a fresher resume that genuinely varies between candidates.
What actually differs
Which of your evidence to lead with. A company whose freshers are trained onto a stack after joining weighs certifications and learning speed; one that places you on a client project early weighs delivery and communication; one doing consulting-adjacent work weighs domain exposure and stakeholder handling. The pages above say which is which.
Should you tailor a resume per company at all?
Not the whole document, and not the format — rewriting your resume from scratch for each application is how people end up sending the wrong file. What genuinely pays is changing three things.
- The summary, two lines of it. Point it at the role you are applying for, using that posting's own words for the work.
- The order of your projects. Lead with the one closest to what this employer does. Same content, different first impression.
- The skills line. Move the terms the posting actually names to the front. Do not add terms that are not true of you — that gap closes painfully in the technical round.
Everything else stays fixed. Ten minutes per application, not an hour.
Fresher or lateral — what changes
These pages are written mainly around entry-level hiring, because that is where format mistakes cost the most and where the volume is. If you are applying with a few years behind you, the structure stays the same but the weighting flips: your work history becomes the centre of the page, academic projects drop off entirely, and 10th and 12th results come out. Beyond roughly five years, keep degree and post-graduation only and let the employment section carry it.
One thing does not change with experience. Every claim on the page is a question someone can ask, so a shorter resume you can defend completely still beats a longer one with soft spots in it.
A note on what these pages do not claim
You will find other sites stating each company's exact applicant tracking system by name, and quoting precise eligibility percentages. Those claims contradict each other across sites, which is a reasonable sign they are being copied rather than verified. Eligibility criteria also change from one drive to the next. Check the current official notification for anything you are going to rely on.
