TCS Resume Format — Example for Freshers
TCS runs one of the largest fresher intakes in the country, which means your resume is read against tens of thousands of near-identical ones. What separates yours is not design — it is whether your projects are described concretely enough to ask a question about.

TCS hires freshers primarily through its national qualifier test and through campus drives, into entry-level engineering and support roles. Because the intake is so large, screening is heavily automated and heavily standardised: one page, plain formatting, and the fields the form expects. Anything that slows a reader down at that volume works against you.
What a TCS resume should lead with
At this intake volume a second page is rarely read. Everything that matters — education, skills, two projects, internship if any — fits on one page if you stop writing an objective paragraph and start writing outcomes.
Almost every applicant has the same degree and a similar CGPA. What differs is what you built. Give each project a one-line purpose, the stack you used, your specific contribution if it was a team project, and a result. Two described properly beat five listed as titles.
Degree, board or university, year of passing and percentage or CGPA, plus 12th and 10th. Large-intake recruiters filter on these fields and verify them against documents later, so write the figures exactly as your marksheets show them.
Date of birth, father's name, marital status and photographs belong on a bio-data, not on a corporate IT resume. They add nothing to the screening and can confuse automated parsing.

Your Name
Final-year B.E. Computer Science student with project work in Java and SQL. Built a three-module inventory system used for a department case study, and completed a two-month internship automating a manual reporting task.
Java · SQL · Python · Data Structures · DBMS · OOPs · HTML/CSS · Git · Problem Solving
- Built a three-module inventory management system in Java with a MySQL backend, handling 2,000 sample records
- Automated a manual weekly reporting task during a 2-month internship, cutting the effort from 6 hours to under 1
- Led a 4-member final-year team through requirements, build and presentation to faculty
- Solved 300+ data structures problems across practice platforms over two semesters
What to get right
- Write your CGPA or percentage exactly as the marksheet states it. Large-intake hiring verifies these figures against documents at joining, and a rounded number is found.
- Name the stack in every project line. "Built a web application" is invisible; "Built a Java and MySQL inventory system" matches how technical screeners read.
- Say what you personally did on team projects. A four-person project with no stated individual contribution is read as a group claim.
- Skip the objective paragraph. At this volume nobody reads it, and it costs you the space a second project would occupy.
- Submit PDF unless told otherwise, and name the file with your own name rather than "resume_final_v3".
Terms that appear in TCS entry-level postings
Use the ones that are genuinely true of you, inside your own bullets rather than as a keyword list.
Common questions
How long should a TCS fresher resume be?
One page. At the scale TCS recruits freshers, a second page is rarely read and is commonly treated as padding. If you cannot fit it, remove the objective paragraph and the list of every workshop attended before you shrink the font.
Should I include a photo on a TCS resume?
No. Photos, date of birth, father's name and marital status belong on a bio-data, not on a corporate IT resume. They add nothing to screening and images are a common cause of parsing problems.
What if I have no internship?
Academic projects carry the resume instead, and they work if described properly — purpose, stack, your specific contribution, and a result. Two well-described projects are stronger evidence than an internship summarised in one vague line.
Does a low CGPA rule me out?
Eligibility criteria change by year and by drive, so check the current notification rather than relying on any blog including this one. What you control is the rest of the page: real projects, an honest skills list and a clean one-page format.
