TCS BPS Resume Format — Example for Non-Engineering Freshers
TCS runs a separate hiring track, Business Process Services, for graduates in commerce, arts and science. It is not the engineering route, and a resume written for that route — Java projects, a coding profile — reads as the wrong application here.

How TCS BPS hiring is organised
Recent TCS BPS drives invite full-time graduates in B.Com, BA, BAF, BBI, BBA, BBM, BMS and BSc; engineering graduates are pointed to the IT route instead. Applications go through the TCS NextStep portal under the BPS category, followed by an online test of verbal, numerical and reasoning ability, an interview and document verification. Because the process ends with document verification, every mark and date on the resume has to match your certificates exactly.
What TCS BPS resumes should lead with
Recent BPS drives accept full-time graduation only. One line — "B.Com (full-time), college, year" — answers the eligibility check before anyone has to ask it.
Postings allow at most one active backlog at the time of the process. "No active backlogs" is worth writing. If you have one, name the subject and when you will clear it, rather than leaving the reader to find it at verification.
Document verification compares your resume with your certificates. Round nothing up, convert nothing without saying so, and use the same format — percentage or CGPA — that the marksheet uses.
This is operations work: accounts, reconciliations, data, customer communication. Excel, accounting basics, typing speed and any internship in an office matter more here than a programming language.
Sample resume
Plain, single-column, selectable text — the way a high-volume screen needs to read it.
B.Com graduate (full-time, 2026) applying for TCS Business Process Services. Scored 72% with no active backlogs, completed a two-month accounts internship reconciling vendor statements, and uses Excel VLOOKUP and pivot tables confidently.
MS Excel · Accounting Basics · Reconciliation · Data Entry · Written English · Typing Speed · Tally Basics · Customer Handling · Attention to Detail
- Reconciled vendor statements for 40 accounts during a two-month internship at a CA firm
- Built an Excel tracker with VLOOKUP and pivot tables to follow outstanding invoices
- Presented a final-year project on GST input tax credit to a panel of three faculty members
- Completed a Tally certificate course alongside the degree
What to get right
- Write the degree with "full-time" and the year. It is the first eligibility check on a BPS application.
- State your backlog status in one honest line — "No active backlogs", or the subject and the month you will clear it.
- Copy every mark exactly as the marksheet shows it. Document verification compares the two.
- Lead with Excel, accounting basics, typing speed and office internships. Leave coding projects for the IT route.
- Keep it to one page and one column, and save it as a PDF with your name in the file name.

Common questions
Can engineers apply for TCS BPS?
Recent BPS drives list non-engineering degrees only — commerce, arts and science. Engineering graduates are pointed to TCS’s IT hiring route instead.
Is TCS BPS the same as the TCS NQT route?
No. NQT is the qualifier for IT roles; BPS is the business-operations track for non-engineering graduates, with its own registration category on the NextStep portal.
What if I have a backlog?
Recent postings allow at most one active backlog at the time of the process. Write it honestly — the subject and when you will clear it. It will be seen at document verification either way.
Should I add a photo or my date of birth?
Not on the resume. The NextStep application collects personal details in its own form, so the resume can use that space for education, skills and internships.
