Amazon India Resume Format — Example
Amazon publishes its Leadership Principles openly, and its own careers guidance asks candidates to quantify impact. Taken together those two facts tell you exactly how to write the resume — and it is genuinely different from a services application.

Amazon is a product company, and its India hiring runs across engineering, operations, supply chain and corporate functions. Its published Leadership Principles describe the behaviours it hires and promotes on, and interviewers draw stories from your resume to probe them. That makes each bullet not just a claim but a conversation you are volunteering to have.
What a Amazon India resume should lead with
Amazon's own careers guidance asks candidates to quantify results, and its interview culture runs on data. Scale, percentage, time saved, cost reduced, users served — a bullet without a figure gives the interviewer nothing to dive into, which is itself a signal in the wrong direction.
Interviewers mine the resume for situations they can question in depth: what the problem was, what you personally did, what happened. A bullet built that way survives ten minutes of follow-up. A bullet describing a responsibility collapses in two.
Ownership, diving deep, bias for action and delivering results should be visible in what you describe. Naming the Leadership Principles on the resume itself adds nothing — showing behaviour that matches them is the whole point.
Competitive programming results, contest participation and verifiable practice profiles are read seriously for entry-level engineering, more so than at services employers. Include them where genuine, with the profile link.

- Rebuilt a campus delivery-scheduling tool used by about 1,200 students, cutting average wait time by 38%
- Diagnosed a recurring failure affecting roughly 1 in 20 orders and traced it to a race condition in the booking flow
- Solved 700+ algorithmic problems and placed in the top 15% of two inter-college contests
- Shipped the fix within 48 hours of identifying it rather than waiting for the next planned release
What to get right
- Quantify nearly every bullet. Amazon's own published guidance asks for it, and a bullet with no figure gives an interviewer nothing to probe.
- Write each bullet as something you can talk about for ten minutes — problem, your action, result. The resume is the source material for the interview here, more literally than at most employers.
- Show ownership by describing what you did when something was not assigned to you. That distinction is visible in writing and it is exactly what gets tested.
- Do not list the Leadership Principles by name on the resume. Demonstrating them in your examples is the entire mechanism; naming them reads as box-ticking.
- Include a verifiable competitive programming profile if you have a real record. For entry-level engineering it is read more seriously here than at services employers.

Common questions
Should I mention Amazon's Leadership Principles on my resume?
Not by name. Amazon publishes them so you can understand what it hires on, and the intended use is to shape which examples you choose and how you describe them. Listing the principles as labels adds nothing; writing bullets that clearly demonstrate ownership, diving deep and delivering results does the actual work.
How important are numbers on an Amazon resume?
Central. Amazon's own careers guidance asks candidates to quantify their impact, and interviewers use those figures as entry points for detailed questioning. Use whatever is genuinely measurable — users served, time saved, percentage improved, cost reduced, scale handled.
Does competitive programming matter for freshers?
For entry-level engineering it is read seriously, more so than at most services employers. Include contest results and a verifiable profile link where your record is genuine. It supports rather than replaces a project you can discuss in depth.
Is the resume format different from a services company resume?
The formatting rules are the same — single column, plain, no photo. What differs is the content: data in almost every line, bullets written as stories an interviewer can open up, and evidence of taking ownership rather than completing assigned tasks.
