How do I write experience if I have only worked at a local garage?
Write it as real work, because it is. Name the vehicle types, the jobs you performed independently, the systems you handled, and roughly how many vehicles a week passed through. Local workshop experience is genuinely valued, and underselling it with two vague lines is what costs candidates the call.
Should I mention my driving licence?
Yes, and say the class. A mechanic who can road-test a vehicle after repair saves the workshop a second person, and for fleet roles a heavy vehicle licence can form part of the eligibility.
Do I need to list every tool I can use?
No. List systems and equipment rather than hand tools. Nobody is persuaded by a spanner set, but "fuel injection pump", "turbocharger" and "compression testing" tell a service manager what you can be assigned.
