ITI Welder Resume Format — With a Full Sample
Welding is one of the few trades where the resume can be checked in ten minutes by a trade test, so nothing is gained by vagueness. A fabrication shop wants to know which processes you run, which positions you can hold, whether you have worked plate, pipe or both, and what thickness range you are used to. Write those four things plainly and you will be called in.

Put NCVT or SCVT next to the trade, and list any separate welder test or procedure qualification on its own line. If you have been qualified on a procedure at a previous employer, say which process and which position - a test pass is the strongest single line on a welder resume.

Everything below is plain, selectable text — the way a recruitment system needs to read it. Swap in your own details and the structure keeps working. Trade: Welder (1-year ITI trade, NCVT/SCVT).
Your Name
ITI Welder (NCVT) with a one-year apprenticeship in structural fabrication. Runs shielded metal arc welding on mild steel plate from 6 mm to 12 mm in flat, horizontal and vertical positions, and assists on MIG for thinner sections. Reads fabrication drawings including weld symbols, and prepares edges and fit-up before welding rather than after.

Skills and equipment to list on ITI Welder resumes
Use the ones that are genuinely true of you, written into your own bullet points rather than dumped in a block. A trade test or a first week on the job settles any claim here, so an honest shorter list beats a long one.
What employers look for on ITI Welder resumes
- Lead with your processes, not the word "welding". SMAW, MIG/MAG and TIG are different skills and are hired separately - a shop running TIG on stainless will skip a resume that only says "welder".
- State the positions you can hold. 1G and 2G is a genuinely different hire from 3G, 4G or 6G, and claiming a position you cannot hold will be exposed in the trade test the same day.
- Give a thickness range and a material. "6 to 12 mm mild steel" or "2 to 4 mm stainless" tells a supervisor which job you can be given immediately.
- Say whether you have worked plate, pipe or both. Pipe welding is the harder-to-fill skill, so if you have it, it belongs in the first two lines rather than buried in a duty list.
- List any test or procedure qualification separately from your ITI certificate. They are different things and an employer reads them differently.
- Mention safety training plainly - hot work permits, confined space, work at height. On sites these are gating requirements, and their absence stops an otherwise fine candidate.
Common questions
Which matters more on a welder resume, the ITI certificate or the processes?
Both, but in that order on the page. The certificate tells an employer you are trainable and eligible for apprenticeship schemes; the process, position and material tell them whether you can do the job in front of them this week. Put the certificate in education and the processes in the first three lines.
Should I claim 6G if I have only practised it?
No. Pipe welding positions are verified by a trade test before hiring in almost every serious shop, so an overstated position simply ends the application and costs you the honest roles you would have got. Write what you hold, and add a line saying which position you are training toward.
How do I show welding work if all of it was in the ITI workshop?
Describe the workshop jobs concretely: the joint types you produced, the material and thickness, the positions you were assessed in, and the processes covered in your practical modules. That is real, checkable information and it reads far better than an empty experience section.
Is a photo expected on a welder resume in India?
Not for a company application submitted online, because image-heavy resumes often parse badly. For walk-in fabrication and site recruitment drives, printed copies with a photo pasted are commonly asked for, so carry a printed set in that format as well.
