Welder Biodata Format for Job: Sample, Blank Form and Lines to Copy
A fabrication shop or a contractor hiring a welder reads a biodata for three things: which welding processes you can do, in which positions, and on what material. A general job biodata never asks for them. This format puts the process, position and qualification lines at the top, where the reader looks first.

When this format is the right one
Use it for a welder or fabricator post with a fabrication shop, a structural or pipeline contractor, a factory maintenance department, a shipyard or a PSU that asks for a biodata, and for an ITI Welder fresher applying for a first job or an apprenticeship.
Copy-ready lines for a welder biodata
Copy the lines that are true for you, replace every [bracket] and delete the rest. A welder is almost always given a test weld, so write only the processes and positions you can weld in front of the supervisor.
Certificate and qualification lines. Put them under your name
Write a welder qualification exactly as tested: process, position, material and date. If you have not taken a qualification test, write the processes and positions you have practised instead. Never a position you have not welded.

Blank welder biodata form. Copy into Word
Select the form, copy it into Word or Google Docs, and fill the blanks. Keep a monospaced font such as Courier New so the colons stay lined up, then print it on A4.

"Welder, 6 years" tells a fabrication supervisor almost nothing. "SMAW and MIG, 1G to 3G, mild steel; gas cutting" tells them which job you can be put on. Write the processes, the positions and the materials on one or two lines directly under your name.
If you have passed a welder qualification test, write the process, the position (for example 3G or 6G), the material and where and when you were tested. Never write a position you have not welded: the test weld at the interview will show it.
Structural work, pipe work, sheet metal, maintenance repairs and shutdown jobs are different trades in practice. One or two lines per employer naming the kind of work, the material and any inspection your welds passed is what gets you called for the test.
If you have just passed ITI, write your apprenticeship as the experience entry, and list the joints you welded in the ITI workshop: butt and fillet joints, the positions, and gas cutting.
Copies of your ITI certificate and marksheets, any NAC, any welder qualification certificate, Aadhaar, an experience letter from your last employer, and two passport-size photographs. Carry the originals to the interview.
What to get right
- Put processes, positions and materials directly under your name.
- Write any welder qualification exactly as tested: process, position, material, date.
- Never claim a position you have not welded; the test weld will show it.
- Name the kind of fabrication (structural, pipe, maintenance) for each employer.
- For a fresher, list the joints and positions welded in the ITI workshop and the apprenticeship.
- Sign the declaration in ink and carry the original certificates.

Common questions
What should a welder biodata contain?
Post applied for, name, father's name, date of birth, the ITI certificate line, welding processes, positions, materials, any qualification test, years of experience, languages, address, mobile, education, experience by employer, documents enclosed and a signed declaration.
What does 3G or 6G mean on a welder biodata?
They are test positions. 3G is a groove weld on plate in the vertical position; 6G is a groove weld on pipe fixed at 45°, which covers all positions. Write only the positions you can actually weld.
I am an ITI Welder fresher. What do I write under experience?
Your apprenticeship, written like a job, and the joints you welded in the ITI workshop: butt and fillet joints, the positions, and gas cutting.
Is a biodata or a resume better for a welder job?
Fabrication shops, contractors and PSUs often ask for a biodata; companies hiring through portals usually want a resume: the ITI welder resume page covers that. The process and position lines go near the top of both.
