Biodata Format for Freshers — Sample With No Work Experience

With no job history, a fresher biodata lives or dies on its education table and on what you put where experience would normally go. Leaving that section blank, or writing "nil", is what makes a fresher biodata look unfinished.

When this format is the right one

This is the format for campus drives, walk-in interviews, bank and government clerical applications, school and college posts, and any employer whose form sheet asks for bio-data rather than a resume. It is also what most small and mid-size Indian employers hand a fresh graduate when they say "fill this and bring it back".

Section by section

Education carries this document

As a fresher, your education table is the main evidence you have, so give it the most detail. Qualification, board or university, year of passing, and percentage or CGPA for each of degree, 12th and 10th. Indian employers genuinely read all three rows, which is why a fresher biodata keeps school results where an experienced one would drop them.

What goes where experience would be

Replace the work section with Internship, Industrial Training, or Academic Projects — whichever you actually have — and write each with an organisation or institution, a duration, and two lines on what you did. This is the single biggest difference between a fresher biodata that gets read and one that gets set aside.

Fields freshers should add

Two fields appear on fresher biodata that experienced candidates usually drop: expected salary, and willingness to relocate. Many Indian employers ask for both at the first screening, and volunteering them saves a round of questions.

What to leave out

Do not pad with a long objective paragraph, and do not list every workshop you attended. A biodata is a record. Two well-described projects beat eight one-line entries.

What to get right

Common questions

What do I write in a fresher biodata if I have no experience at all?

Rename the section and fill it. Internships, industrial training, college projects, workshops with a real output, freelance work and volunteer roles all belong there, each with an organisation, a duration and two lines describing what you did. An honest project described properly is far stronger than an empty heading.

Should a fresher biodata mention percentage or CGPA?

Whichever your institution issues, written exactly as the marksheet states it. If your university gives CGPA, give CGPA and add the conversion only if the employer's form asks for a percentage. Do not round figures upward — they are verified against documents at the joining stage.

Is expected salary really needed on a fresher biodata?

It is commonly asked for in Indian fresher hiring, and "negotiable as per company norms" is an accepted answer that keeps your options open. Leaving the field off entirely is fine for private-sector applications but often gets queried in clerical and walk-in hiring.

Should I attach a photo to a fresher biodata?

Yes, if the format has a photo box, which most do. Use a plain passport-size photograph with a light background and formal clothing. Avoid cropped selfies or filtered images — biodata photos are frequently pasted into personnel files.
