Fitter Biodata Format for Job: Sample, Blank Form and Lines to Copy
A plant or a contractor hiring a fitter wants to know three things from the biodata: your certificate, the kind of fitting work you have done (assembly, maintenance, pipe or structural), and which machines and measuring instruments you use. This format puts those lines at the top instead of burying them under education.

When this format is the right one
Use it for a fitter, maintenance fitter, pipe fitter or assembly fitter post with a factory, a maintenance contractor, a PSU or a government department that asks for a biodata, and for an ITI Fitter fresher applying for a first job or an apprenticeship.
Copy-ready lines for a fitter biodata
Copy the lines that are true for you, replace every [bracket] and delete the rest. Fitters are often asked to read a vernier or do a filing job at the interview, so write only what you can show.

Maintenance, assembly, pipe and structural fitting are different jobs, and a plant hires for one of them. Write the kind of fitting you have done on the line under your name, with the machines or systems: pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, pipelines.
Name the instruments you use (vernier caliper, micrometer, dial gauge, height gauge), and the tolerance you have worked to. Interviewers often hand a fitter a vernier and ask for a reading, so list only what you can read confidently.
"Did maintenance" says little. "Replaced bearings and mechanical seals on centrifugal pumps; aligned motor and pump couplings" tells the reader exactly which breakdown you can be sent to. Add a number where you can: machines looked after, breakdowns attended a month.
If you have just passed ITI, write your apprenticeship as the experience entry, and list the jobs from the ITI workshop (filing, drilling, tapping, male and female fits) with the accuracy you achieved.
Copies of your ITI certificate and marksheets, any NAC, Aadhaar, an experience letter from your last employer, and two passport-size photographs. Carry the originals to the interview.
What to get right
- Write the kind of fitting work (maintenance, assembly, pipe, structural) directly under your name.
- List the measuring instruments you can read, and the tolerance you have worked to.
- Name the machines and systems you have maintained or assembled.
- Write only what you can show in a vernier reading or a filing test.
- For a fresher, write the apprenticeship like a job and list the ITI workshop jobs.
- Sign the declaration in ink and carry the original certificates.

Common questions
What should a fitter biodata contain?
Post applied for, name, father's name, date of birth, the ITI certificate line, the kind of fitting work, machines handled, measuring instruments, years of experience, languages, address, mobile, education, experience by employer, documents enclosed and a signed declaration.
I am an ITI Fitter fresher. What do I write under experience?
Your apprenticeship, written like a job, and the jobs from the ITI workshop (filing, drilling, tapping, fits) with the accuracy you achieved.
Is a biodata or a resume better for a fitter job?
Plants, contractors and PSUs often ask for a biodata; companies hiring through portals usually want a resume: the ITI fitter resume page covers that. The certificate and work lines go near the top of both.
Should I write my ITI percentage?
Yes, especially for apprenticeship and PSU posts, which often shortlist on marks. Write it exactly as the marksheet gives it.
