What is the difference between the Machinist and Turner ITI trades?
Turner is centred on the lathe. Machinist covers a wider set of machine tools - milling, grinding, drilling, shaping - and typically more setting work. Employers hire against the machines on their floor rather than the trade title, so list the machines you have actually run regardless of which certificate you hold.
Do I need CNC or VMC experience as a machinist?
It widens the range of employers considerably, but conventional machining is still hired across tool rooms, maintenance shops and job work. State your CNC exposure at its true level - operating, editing offsets, or full setting - because the interview will establish it in about two questions.
How do I write experience if I only have ITI practical training?
Write the practicals as work: which machines, which operations, what material, what you were assessed on, and how dimensions were checked in the workshop. A machinist trade test covers exactly this ground, so an honest account of it is genuinely useful to the reader.
Should I include my ITI marks or percentage?
