Shivaji University CGPA to Percentage Calculator

Most websites give one formula for every Shivaji University programme. We read the university's own documents instead. One equation is published — but it sits in the Department of Technology's B.Tech rules, and the university-wide CBCS circulars do not publish any formula at all. This calculator follows what is actually written.

Why other websites show (CGPA − 0.75) × 10

(CGPA − 0.75) × 10 and (CGPA × 10) − 7.5 are the same equation written two ways — a CGPA of 7.80 gives 70.5% either way. It is often labelled a "UGC formula". In the Shivaji University documents we found, it appears in exactly one place: the Department of Technology's B.Tech rules, which cite the AICTE Handbook 2011-12 for the table behind it.

So the number those websites give is right for Department of Technology B.Tech students. For a B.Com. or B.Sc. CGPA it is a rule borrowed from a different programme — the circulars that govern CBCS programmes do not adopt it. We are not claiming no such rule could exist anywhere; only that Shivaji University's own CBCS circulars do not contain one.

The equivalence table in the B.Tech rules

The Department of Technology rules print this table, "as per AICTE Handbook (2011-12)". The equation reproduces every row.

CGPAEquivalentDivision
6.2555%
6.7560%First Division starts here
7.2565%First Division
7.7570%First Division
8.2575%First Division with Distinction starts here

The same page words the divisions as "Ist Division with distinction : CGPA > 8.25 and above" and "Ist Division : CGPA > 6.75 and < 8.25", and the calculator reads them together with the table above (6.75 = 60%). Its Second Division line is misprinted in the published PDF ("CGPA > 6.75 and < 6.25"), so we do not state a Second Division range.

If a form insists on a percentage

1. Use your real aggregate. If your statements of marks show marks, total marks obtained divided by total marks, times 100, is a genuine percentage — not a conversion. The second calculator above does exactly this.

2. Get the official certificate. The Department of Technology rules state that the university provides an equivalent certificate of CGPA to percentage on demand, after the prescribed fee. We have not verified today's procedure or fee — the university's examination section can confirm both.

3. On a resume, you rarely need to convert at all. Write your CGPA with its scale and your letter grade. A recruiter who needs a percentage will ask, and you will have one of the two answers above ready.
