Sales Executive Resume Format — Example You Can Copy
A sales resume is the easiest kind to write well and the most commonly written badly. The reader wants one thing on the first read: your number against your target. Everything else supports it.

- Self-sourced 60% of pipeline through outbound, reducing dependence on marketing-qualified leads
- Grew the assigned territory from 14 to 31 active accounts over 18 months
- Cut the average sales cycle from 74 days to 52 by restructuring the first discovery call

- Put your quota attainment in the summary, in the first two lines. If a sales resume makes the reader hunt for the number, it has already failed.
- Always give the target alongside the achievement. "Closed ₹1.8 crore" means nothing without knowing the target was ₹1.6 crore.
- Name the CRM you actually use. It is a routine filter term and takes one word.
- Show where the pipeline came from. Self-sourced revenue is valued very differently from revenue handed over by marketing.
- If a year was genuinely bad, lead with a different metric you did move — cycle time, retention, account growth — rather than hiding the period.
ATS keywords for sales executive roles
Applicant tracking systems match your resume against the job description before a person ever opens it. These are the terms that show up most often in sales executive postings — use the ones that are genuinely true of you, in your own bullet points rather than in a keyword dump.
Common questions
What is the most important thing on a sales resume?
Your number against your target, placed high enough that it is read in the first few seconds. Sales hiring is unusually evidence-driven, and a resume without quota attainment reads as a resume hiding it.
How do I write a sales resume if I missed target?
Report the period honestly and lead with the metrics you did move — sales cycle length, number of new logos, retention rate, average deal size, or pipeline built. A resume that quietly omits the year is more damaging than one that shows a hard year with real progress in it.
Should I name my clients on a sales resume?
Name the industry and size rather than the company, unless the logo is public and you have no confidentiality obligation. "Closed a mid-size manufacturing account worth ₹40 lakh annually" gives the reader the scale without creating a problem for you.
