What recruiters look for in Chartered Accountant resumes
- Name your articleship firm and the assignments you actually ran, not just the departments you sat in. For anyone under five years post-qualification, articleship quality is the main signal.
- State your specialisation clearly: audit, direct tax, indirect tax, or finance and controllership. CA hiring is segmented and a generalist framing weakens all of them.
- Mention attempts only if you cleared in the first or second attempt. It is commonly asked and volunteering a strong record helps; a longer record is better discussed in person.
- Give client turnover ranges and industries. "Audited listed manufacturing clients up to ₹400 crore" tells a partner your exposure level in one line.
- List the ERP you have worked in: SAP, Oracle, Tally Prime. For industry roles this often matters more than audit methodology.

Mention it when you cleared in the first or second attempt, since it is routinely asked and a strong record works in your favour. If it took longer, leave it off the resume and handle the question in the interview, where you can give context.
How do I move from audit to an industry finance role?
