Hotel Jobs in Mumbai for Freshers: Departments, Roles and How to Get In

Mumbai's hotels, from business hotels near the airport to five-star properties in South Mumbai, hire freshers in every department, and many entry roles take 12th pass candidates as well as hotel-management graduates. This page explains the departments and their entry roles, the trainee and internship route, what hotels expect at the interview, and the fake hotel and cruise job offers to avoid.

CVCrisp Jobs: new job postings every morning in one locked Google Sheet, each with a link to apply on the employer's own page. Get the sheet in our WhatsApp community.

Departments and entry roles

Hotels hire by department. Pick the one that suits you and apply for its entry role.

Food and beverage serviceSteward, F&B associate, banquet staffYou like serving guests and can stand long shifts

Trainee and internship route

Hotel-management students do industrial training in hotels as part of their course, and many hotel groups run management-trainee programmes for graduates. Without a hotel course, the usual way in is an entry role in one department; hotels promote from within, and a short course or certificate in your department helps.

What hotels expect at the interview

Grooming is checked first: clean formal clothes, neat hair, short clean nails, polished shoes. Expect a short conversation in English, a question on why you chose the department, and for some roles a practical: setting a table, folding linen, or a short kitchen task. Shifts rotate, including late nights for F&B and front office, so say honestly which shifts you can work.

Fake hotel and cruise job offers

Offers for "five-star hotel" or cruise-ship jobs that ask for a fee for a visa, a medical, a uniform or "training" are the common fakes. Real hotels do not charge for jobs. Check openings on the hotel group's own careers page and be very careful with overseas offers that come without an interview.

Common questions

Can a 12th pass get a hotel job in Mumbai?

Yes. Many entry roles in F&B service, housekeeping, kitchen and the bell desk take 12th pass candidates. Front office often prefers graduates with good spoken English.

Do I need a hotel management degree?

Not for every role. It helps for front office and management-trainee programmes, but many entry roles hire 12th pass candidates and train them.

What do hotels check at the interview?

Grooming, spoken English and manners, why you chose the department, and for some roles a short practical task.

Are cruise ship job offers real?

Some are, but many fakes ask for visa, medical or training fees. Never pay for a job, and confirm the employer and the recruiter before you share documents.
