Age rules
Under the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986, as amended in 2016, children under 14 may not be employed, and adolescents from 14 to 18 may not work in hazardous occupations and processes. In practice most Mumbai employers hire from 18, security agencies hire from 18 (PSARA sets 18 to 65), and delivery on a bike needs a valid driving licence.
The route after 10th that raises your pay: ITI
A one- or two-year ITI trade (electrician, fitter, welder, COPA and others) takes 10th pass students and leads to technician jobs that pay more than helper roles, an apprenticeship with a monthly stipend (₹9,600 for an ITI pass apprentice under the September 2025 notification), and railway apprenticeships selected on 10th and ITI marks.
Fake offers
10th pass job seekers are targeted with "government job without exam", "airport job" and "work from home packing" offers that ask for a fee. Government jobs come only through official exams and notices; no real employer sells a job.
