Registration: check it before you apply

Nurses must be registered with the Maharashtra Nursing Council, and only a registered pharmacist may dispense medicines under the Pharmacy Act, 1948. Hospitals ask for the registration number, so keep it, or the receipt of your application, ready. Support, desk and admin roles need no registration.

Shifts and the work

Hospitals run day and night, so most clinical and ward roles rotate between morning, evening and night shifts. Ask the shift pattern, the weekly off, and whether night duty is paid differently. For front desk and billing, ask whether the desk runs 24 hours.

Women working at night in shops and establishments in Maharashtra must give written consent and be given safe transport; ask how the hospital handles night duty and travel.

Fake hospital job offers

A real hospital does not charge you for an interview, a uniform or "registration with the hospital". Be careful with offers abroad or at "big hospitals" that arrive without any interview and ask for a processing fee. Confirm the opening on the hospital's own careers page or by calling its HR desk from the number on its official website.
