The latest is notification RRC/WR/04/2025, dated 18 February 2026. Its Corrigendum No. 1 moved the Mahalaxmi Workshop mechanical slots (Fitter 45, Welder 20) into Parel Workshop, so document verification for those candidates is at Parel. The 2022 notice, RRC/WR/01/2022, offered 3,612 slots. Read the current notice on rrc-wr.com for the slot table and dates.
Who can apply
The Western Railway notices ask for 10th with at least 50% marks and an ITI in the notified trade. Age is at least 15 and below 24 on the date the notice fixes, with 5 years extra for SC and ST and 3 years for OBC, plus relaxation for persons with disabilities and ex-servicemen.
Choose one division or workshop
The 2022 notice allowed one division or workshop only, and the choice was final. Pick a unit that has slots for your trade and your category. If a trade falls short somewhere, Western Railway can move candidates to another unit.
Merit and verification
Merit is the average of your 10th percentage and your ITI percentage. Each division or workshop issues its own trade-wise and community-wise merit list and calls candidates in merit order. Final selection depends on verification of original documents and medical fitness, and candidates found unfit are replaced from the list.
Medical certificate, fee and stipend
Candidates called for verification submit a medical certificate in the format attached to the notice (Annexure G in 2022), signed by a government doctor. The fee is ₹100; SC, ST, PwD and women candidates pay nothing. Training is one year with a stipend at the rate the rules fix. The minimum stipend for an ITI pass apprentice under the Apprenticeship Rules is ₹9,600 a month from 11 September 2025, so check the amount in your engagement letter.
