ITI Apprenticeship in Mumbai: Where and How to Apply

Central Railway's 2025 notification (RRC/CR/AA/2025) had a Mumbai cluster made up of Carriage and Wagon (Coaching) Wadi Bunder, Kalyan and Kurla diesel sheds, the TRS units at Kalyan and Kurla, Parel Workshop, Matunga Workshop and the S&T Workshop at Byculla. Applications go online on rrccr.com, there is no exam, and merit is the average of your 10th and ITI percentages.

Western Railway: Parel and Mahalaxmi
Western Railway's Railway Recruitment Cell at Grant Road takes applications on rrc-wr.com. In the 2026 notice (RRC/WR/04/2025), Corrigendum No. 1 moved the Mahalaxmi Workshop mechanical slots, Fitter 45 and Welder 20, into Parel Workshop.
Mazagon Dock (MDL)
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders takes ITI holders in Group B of its trade apprentice intake. The 2026 intake had 495 seats in all, with Fitter Structural and Electrician 50 each, Welder 40 and COPA 30 among the Group B trades. Unlike the railways, MDL holds a 100-question online exam, and the age limit for Group B was 16 to 21.
Private companies
Private plants and service companies in and around Mumbai also engage ITI apprentices, mostly through the government apprenticeship portal, apprenticeshipindia.gov.in, where you register once and apply to establishments. Check each company's own careers page or the portal listing for openings.
Stipend
The minimum stipend for an ITI pass apprentice is ₹9,600 a month from 11 September 2025, with 10% more in the second year, under the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Rules, 2025. Railway notices may quote an older rate, so check your engagement letter.
