The last two notifications

The main Central Railway notification RRC/CR/AA/2025 (12 August 2025) offered 2,418 slots, with online applications from 12 August to 11 September 2025. A supplementary notification, RRC/CR/AA/2025 Part-II dated 10 March 2026, offered 51 more slots from 10 March to 9 April 2026. Both are closed. The next one will be posted on rrccr.com.

Mumbai cluster units

You pick one cluster and can only list units inside it. In 2025 the Mumbai cluster covered the Carriage and Wagon (Coaching) depot at Wadi Bunder, Kalyan and Kurla diesel sheds, the TRS units at Kalyan and Kurla, Parel Workshop, Matunga Workshop and the S&T Workshop at Byculla. The largest were Matunga Workshop with 547 slots, Parel Workshop with 303 and Wadi Bunder with 258.

Check the slot table for your trade before choosing. The notice warns that a unit with no slot for your trade makes the application useless, and you cannot change it after submitting.

Who can apply

You need 10th with at least 50% aggregate marks and an NCVT National Trade Certificate, or an NCVT or SCVT provisional certificate, in the notified trade. Engineering graduates and diploma holders are not eligible because a separate scheme covers them.

Age is 15 to 24 on the date of the notification. The upper limit goes up by 5 years for SC and ST, 3 years for OBC and 10 years for persons with disabilities, with a separate rule for ex-servicemen.

How selection works

There is no written exam or interview. Merit is the simple average of your 10th percentage (all subjects, not best of five) and your ITI percentage. Lists are made cluster or unit wise, trade wise and community wise, and RRC/CR does not make one combined merit list. If two candidates tie, the older one goes first.

Shortlisted candidates go to document verification at the unit and must give a medical certificate in the format attached to the notice.

Fee, training and stipend

The application fee is ₹100, paid online. SC, ST, PwBD and women candidates pay no fee. Training lasts one year, and no hostel is given.

The 2025 notice quotes a stipend of ₹7,000 a month for certificate holders under Railway Board letter RBE 202/2019. The minimum stipend for an ITI pass apprentice under the Apprenticeship Rules is ₹9,600 a month from 11 September 2025, so check the amount in your engagement letter.
