Central Railway's 2025 notification (RRC/CR/AA/2025) had no Plumber slots in its Mumbai cluster, so Mumbai plumbers should look at other zones and employers. In South East Central Railway's Nagpur division document verification schedule of August 2025, 165 plumber candidates were called for verification for the Nagpur division.
Selection is on merit: the average of your 10th and ITI percentages, with 10th at 50% or more.
Mazagon Dock and other employers
Mazagon Dock's 2026 intake had 30 Pipe Fitter/Plumber seats for ITI holders (Group B), chosen by a 100-question online exam. Building contractors, MEP firms, hotels and hospitals also engage plumber apprentices through apprenticeshipindia.gov.in.
Stipend and training period
The minimum stipend for an ITI pass apprentice is ₹9,600 a month from 11 September 2025, with 10% more in the second year, under the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Rules, 2025. Railway training for ITI holders is one year. Mazagon Dock's Group B training is also one year.
How to apply
